Things to do in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Colorado Springs is the second largest city in Colorado. It is highly recommended by the locals to tour the city by car because it is geographically spread out. The city is surrounded by the breathtaking views of the Front Range. It has everything an outdoor lover will like. 

Garden of the Gods

The Garden of the Gods is a stunning landmark located within the bounds of the city. Admission is free in this spectacular site that offers natural red rock formations that stand a rocketing 300 feet high. Explore the site by hiking the trails or through a Segway or Jeep tour. Don't miss the nature center's dinosaur display when you visit the site

U.S. Air Force Academy

Guests can visit the training site where air force cadets train at the U.S. Air Force Academy that was founded in 1955. The site is open to the public and is free of admission charges. The military base provides a visitor center that gives information about available tours and activities in the academy. 

The Olympic Training Center

Sports fans will love it in the Olympic Training Center. It boasts of a capacity of holding up to 500 athletes and coaches at once. It is the headquarters of the country's shooting and swimming teams. You can see the behind-the-scenes of the Team USA athletes, who will participate in the forthcoming games in the 45-minute walking tour.

Art on the Streets

Get a glimpse of Colorado Springs' creative side with Art on the Streets. The event features sculptures on sidewalks and the corner of the street and other public sites across the city. A new batch of artwork is being uncovered in June, but the sculptures stay there throughout the year.

Shopping in Colorado Springs

The city also offers a wide range of shopping options for guests and the locals. Terra Verde and Halo Boutique have fashion-forward women's apparel and items, as well as bookstores and jewelry shops. Restaurants also abound within the city, so you do not have to worry when you go hungry. 

Pike Peak

Pikes Peak is a great escape for families or individuals who are in for an adventure. For those who seek a high level of thrill, you can include zip-lining and river rafting in your itinerary. For those who want to relax by the lake, you can spend the day fishing. 

Fireworks in Colorado Springs

The 4th of July is a festive time in Colorado Springs. Various events happen in the city including the fantastic fireworks display in Memorial Park. Aside from the fireworks, there's also an impressive act by the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra.

​Old Colorado City

A ten-minute drive to the west of the city is where the Old Colorado City is located. It showcases 19th-century brick store facades that is home to a variety of businesses. You can find French bakeries, art galleries and different shops on the site.
